Teach Your Children

Awake the past through a looking glass
bold to my sight though it disappears
Chirps from heaven are calling home
through younger lives mine reappears

Good-natured love has left its mark
my fears were that I wouldn’t see
The day that I’d be reassured
of gifts that God will bring to me

But now I know within my soul
his home is full of treasured gifts
For I’ve received most while I’m here
their soaring flights my spirits lift

If I can only pass one thing
to those I leave when I takeoff
They should always help the young
gain the confidence to go aloft

And should mine want to visit me
a look above and they will know
It’s me that soars upon the air
watching over them as they go
