Double Play

I remember that loving diamond
The light shone upon the stone
I gave her my strongest feelings
Praise I sought, blame I’d be alone

My fears, it would be too hard
To have enough strength to say
I was best and could pass the test
Would she yield to an excellent play

I gave it my all, a chance I’d fall
And made a fantastic catch
I learned when I slid on that rock
My effort is what won the match
